Now my parents can have their PC to themselves again...
I got my computer back from the shop today, after an extra week’s delay due to the supplier moving without notice. What does this mean?
Well, there’s some Flash games that I’m going to try that were rather more resource hungry than my parents’ poor anaemic machine could stand, and I’m looking forward to participating in Second Life again. Not to mention Morrowind and Oblivion. I need more Morrowind in my life.
One thing I’ve been playing with is a kind of Zero Punctuation-esque revue of Second Life I’m currently calling Martien Pontecorvo’s Lantern Slide Show. This is what it suggests: A crudely arranged set of ‘slides’ (really screenshots done over with a sepia or some sort of desaturation filter, maybe with blurred edges) presented as if by an old-fashioned magic lantern projectionist of yore, complete with ragtime piano intro and extro music. Hopefully Mr Croshaw won’t hunt me down and kill me.
In the context of Second Life, a Martian presenting virtual reality in 19th century fashion makes sense.
Of course, first I need a means of turning a disparate collection of images and sound clips into a movie suitable for uploading to YouTube or whatever. This might mean downloading Windows Movie Maker or something, but while this isn’t a perfect concept — I rather looked forward to incorporating video into the mixture, but it’s proving pretty ropy to get working.
No… first I need to hammer the broadband limit by downloading all the alt.binaries.slack I’ve been missing out on. And my emails. And one or two other things…
