One of the problems with Ring Pass Not is that it’s addictive. Very addictive. I remembered today to review this game and then ended up with an hour missing from my life.
The game’s premise is simple: Create a ring of tiles where each cell matches either in symbol, colour, or both. In later rounds, you’re encouraged to make particular matches for extra points. You can also go for lots of one symbol or colour for points and/or power-ups. And once you finish level 30, you can keep on trucking for a personal high score. The ring consists of eight two-cell pieces, which you pull over from the stack on the left. Unfortunately, the pieces are randomly selected every time you deal, and the number dealt drops each time you do so. This means an element of chance is involved, which means that one game might be a waltz and the next you can’t get off square one. So why do I keep playing this thing? Because it’s simple to work out, but you have to think carefully as more limiters appear, decide whether to use that piece to get a pool, or the other to close the ring, or yet another for a synergy pair and get a power-up.
