The goal in a game of Qink is to colour all the sides of a cube. As such, it involves being able to think ahead and in 3-D as you have to match coloured pieces onto the exposed facets of the cube’s faces, which you select with the mouse. The constraint is that you have to colour each face with only one solid colour, and the pieces cannot be rotated. However, the cube can be rotated using the cursor or WASD keys to align facets with your available pieces — which is where spatial thinking comes in. In the screenshot above, you can see that I have placed the first red piece, but I still have a lot of yellows to colour the other five sides. Pieces can be as small as one facet, or cover up to three entire sides at once. The challenge is to work out how the pieces fit together in order to solve the puzzle or complete a face before time runs out. If you get bored with solving puzzles (Patience mode), there is a timed panic game (Fury mode) for those wanting some twitch action. I’m more of a deliberating sort myself, but this doubles the fun you can have with this game.
