I purchased and downloaded Half-Life 2 with Deathmatch and Episode 1 about a week ago, and was subsequently unimpressed when it wouldn’t work. Inexplicably, it fixed itself at some point and I spent rather too much time on a Sunday night playing both it and Episode 1 to death. Before, I downloaded Portal. Now, there are points where you have to portal past, around or over huge hydraulic rams which make a distinct sound. This is the same sound as that made by the large doors in the Combine’s stronghold, the Citadel. The energy pellets look similar to the Combine energy orbs. The design of the sentry turrets in Portal is reminiscent of the heads of the stormtroopers. This leads me to suspect that Aperture Science was working for the Combine.
